FM Kamikawa Meets AU Deputy Chair Nsanzabaganwa

On August 25, Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa met with Dr. Monique Nsanzabaganwa, Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission, who was in Japan for the TICAD Ministerial Meeting. The discussion lasted about 20 minutes.

Minister Kamikawa thanked the AUC for its cooperation with the TICAD process and highlighted its crucial role in promoting a prosperous, integrated, and peaceful Africa. She called for continued collaboration to develop innovative solutions ahead of TICAD 9, building on more than 30 years of TICAD achievements.

Dr. Nsanzabaganwa congratulated Japan on the successful meeting, expressed appreciation for Japan’s longstanding support, and conveyed the AUC’s commitment to further partnership leading up to TICAD 9. She also noted the importance of working together in the G20 framework.

Both sides agreed on the significance of advancing the Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) agenda.
