Japan-Tanzania Summit Meeting

On May 29, at 9:30 a.m., Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba met with Tanzanian Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, who was visiting Japan to attend the National Day event at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai. The meeting lasted about 30 minutes.
Prime Minister Ishiba praised the success of Tanzania-related events at the Expo and expressed his intention to enhance bilateral cooperation, highlighting Tanzania’s role as a gateway for Japanese businesses into East Africa. He also asked for Tanzania’s support toward the success of TICAD 9 in August.
Prime Minister Majaliwa welcomed the strong ties between the two countries, thanked Japan for its economic assistance, particularly in agriculture, and voiced hope for increased investment. Both leaders agreed to continue close collaboration on global issues, including UN Security Council reform.
